FAQs
General
What services do you offer?
I provide branding (logos, visual identity systems), print design (brochures, posters, stationery), digital design (web graphics, social media assets, email templates), packaging, presentation design, and art direction. I also offer design audits and consulting for nonprofits and small businesses.
How do you price projects?
I use three pricing models: flat-fee project pricing for defined scopes (recommended for branding and packaged work), hourly rates for open-ended or consulting work, and retainer agreements for ongoing monthly design needs. Estimates are provided after a brief discovery call and a review of deliverables, timeline, and usage rights.
How long will my project take? Timelines vary by scope. Typical ranges:
Logo concept + revisions: 2–4 weeks
Full brand identity: 4–8 weeks
Single print piece (flyer, postcard): 5–10 business days
Multi-page brochure or annual report: 2–4 weeks Rush options are available for an additional fee.
What do you need from me to get started?
A completed intake form (project objectives, audience, budget, timeline), brand assets you already have (logos, color codes, fonts), examples of design styles you like, and any required content (copy and images). For complex projects I also request a short discovery call.
What is your revision process?
Each project includes a stated number of revision rounds in the quote (usually 2–3). Revisions beyond that are billed hourly or added to the scope. Revisions should be consolidated into a single list per round to keep the process efficient.
Do you offer print or production services?
I can prepare print-ready files and coordinate production. I work with trusted print partners for quotes, proofs, and deliveries, or I can supply files for you to send to your preferred vendor. Production fees are separate from design fees.
What file formats will I receive?
You'll receive print-ready PDF files, editable source files (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or layered Photoshop) where applicable, and optimized web versions (PNG, JPEG, SVG). For branding projects we include a brand guidelines PDF summarizing usage, colors, and typography.
Who owns the final design?
Ownership is transferred to you upon final payment, subject to any third-party license restrictions (stock imagery, type licenses). I retain the right to display the work in my portfolio and for promotional use unless a confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement is signed.
Do you use stock images?
Yes, when appropriate. Stock images can save time and budget; I select images with the proper license for intended use. Costs for purchasing stock images are billed separately unless included in the quote.
What if I don’t have a logo or brand guidelines?
I can create a full visual identity from scratch: logo, color palette, typography, and a brand guide. I offer tiered identity packages to fit different needs and budgets.
How do you handle project communication?
Primary communication is by email and scheduled calls. For active projects I recommend weekly check-ins or milestone reviews. I use shared folders for file delivery and may use project tools for task tracking if needed.
Can you design for accessibility?
Yes. I design with accessibility best practices in mind: high-contrast palettes, legible type sizes, clear hierarchy, and accessible PDFs when requested. For web projects we provide guidance on accessible implementation.
Do you provide copywriting or photography?
I can provide basic copy editing and help source photography. Full-service copywriting and professional photography are available through trusted partners and can be added to the project scope.
What happens if the project scope changes?
Scope changes are handled through a written change order outlining new deliverables, timeline adjustments, and additional fees. Work does not proceed on the change until the client approves the change order.
How do payments work?
A standard schedule is 50% deposit to begin work, 25% at a midpoint (for larger projects), and 25% on delivery of final files. For ongoing retainers, we invoice monthly. Final files are delivered after final payment clears.
What is your cancellation policy?
If a project is canceled after work begins, you are responsible for all work completed up to the cancellation date plus any non-recoverable costs. Deposits are non-refundable once design work has started, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Can you work with my web developer or printer?
Absolutely. I collaborate with developers, printers, marketing teams, and event planners. I provide technical specs, asset packages, and support to ensure smooth implementation.
How do you ensure consistency across materials?
Brand guidelines and asset libraries ensure consistent color, typography, and usage. For ongoing needs I recommend a retainer so I can maintain consistent output and quick turnarounds.
Do you offer nonprofit pricing or discounts?
Yes. I offer sliding scale pricing, packages, and payment plans for qualifying nonprofit organizations.
